How do we protect your property and belongings before painting?

Updated: Mar 15, 2022

Protecting surfaces against painting.

Every self-respecting renovation team on the market should professionally protect all elements of an apartment or house that may be damaged or dirty. When deciding to paint your dream apartment or house, whether already inhabited or undergoing renovation, it is worth paying attention to the fact that everything in the apartment is well secured.

When and what do we secure?

It largely depends on the technique we choose to paint. And here I will stop for a moment and allow myself to briefly describe what painting techniques we distinguish and when they should be used:

1.Spray painting:

We usually choose spray painting when we have a large area to be painted and the investor cares about time. We usually paint raw states with the spraying method, after applying e.g. plaster. and here it does not matter whether they are houses or flats or even offices. Spraying is also great when painting real estate from the primary market, provided that there are not too many personal belongings of our client in it. Securing multiple wardrobes, moving heavy furniture, moving small items and wrapping everything up thoroughly takes more time than traditional roller painting.

When spray painting, it is extremely important to tightly protect all floors, windows, doors, window sills, strips, etc. We also always remove sockets, lamps, shelves, curtain rails, etc. The fewer things that need to be protected, the better. When it comes to the painting itself, everything from floors to windows to the entire home equipment must be secured. There are no exceptions here. Everything that is not covered up will also be painted, which we just don't want. In the case of spray painting, wrapping takes about 85% of the time, the rest is painting, which is done at an express pace.

2. Roller painting:

We decide on traditional painting, i.e. painting with a roller, when there is not much painting, or when there are a lot of small things in the apartment that we are going to paint, which must be left in place. We also decide to paint with a roller when the investor would like to obtain a traditional roller-like structure on his walls.

When deciding to paint with a roller, we do not have to pay so much attention to securing everything very carefully. In fact with thick, high-quality paints that hardly drip, we protect the most important elements of the house, which are most susceptible to dirt, i.e. windows, doors, floors, mouldings and window sills. Unlike spray painting, not everything has to be taped tightly "from head to toe". Very often we cover the floors only with a cloth painting mat in the place where we are currently painting. The windows can only be covered with painter's tape on the edges, and it is enough to remove only the frames from the sockets. For convenience, we usually take the lamps off, but not all of them. The most important thing when painting with a roller is to protect the floors, which are most exposed to all kinds of dirt.

What materials for protection / wrapping do we use?

For the protection of floors, we most often use high-quality and thick cardboard that is impermeable to water. Depending on the floor, we stick them with tapes with strong or weak glue so as not to damage the above-mentioned. surface. Windows, doors, window sills, stairs, furniture, TV sets, sofas, corneas and others are secured with thick painting foil with a special blue painting tape. This solution ensures that your home furniture will not be damaged or dirty.
